Best Florida Solar Installers in the Jacksonville Area
Want to install solar in the Jacksonville area, but not sure how to find an installer?
Or are you overwhelmed by the sheer number of companies out there and want to know who the best Florida solar installers are in your neighborhood? Don’t worry, we’ve got answers!
Below, we list out five Florida solar companies either based or working in the Jacksonville area that really caught our eye. Each installer enjoys great reviews from previous customers and offers a unique set of services in addition to photovoltaic solar (the kind that make electricity), including solar water heaters, energy storage, home automation, or even just premium US-made PV solar panels.
Of course, there are other great solar companies working in Jacksonville, but these are the installers that stood out based on their experience, reviews, and services.
Let’s kick things off with the company that enjoys the most customer reviews, A1A Solar Contracting.
How much money can a solar roof save you in Florida?
A1A Solar Contracting
A1A Solar Contracting is the only contractor on our list actually based in Jacksonville, though they work in other areas of Florida as well as Georgia. Unlike many smaller solar installers that subcontract out certain parts of the job (typically roofing or electrical work), A1A Solar only uses in-house employees, which generally leads to an easier, faster installation as there’s less likelihood of miscommunication and unavailability.
Like IQ Power below, A1A is listed as a top US solar installer by trade magazine SolarPowerWorld. In their Top 500 Solar Contractors list, A1A Solar Contractors comes in at #11 in the state and #239 overall.
Since their founding, A1A has installed 10,102 kilowatts of solar – enough for about 1,800 average-sized installations. For a regional installer, that’s quite a bit!
Of all the installers on our list, A1A enjoys the highest number of reviews, 124 to be precise on review platform SolarReviews (as of December 2017). Of course, they also enjoy a great overall score, with the average customer giving them 4.81 out of 5 stars. Homeowners consistently praise the company for just about everything you can praise a company for: great sales people, professional installations, friendly staff, and speedy turnaround.
Here’s Pinz on SolarReviews, describing his experience working with A1A:
“[Name Removed] was my salesman and was one of the best salesmen I’ve ever had for anything. He was very honest and upfront about everything, he didn’t mislead me about anything and he answered all my questions even after installation. I really liked the fact that he also has solar panels installed at his house and showed me his own electric bills! [Salesperson] was very knowledgeable about everything and the A1A Solar installation crew was just as good when they came to install the panels on my house.”
Bottom Line: Great reviews, lots of experience, and in-house staff means you’ll be in good hands if you move forward with A1A Solar Contracting.
Wayne’s Solar is based in Ormond Beach, but installs in Jacksonville (and Duval County), as well as several other counties in central Florida, including Clay, Volusia, Flagler, Putnam, and St. Johns.
Wayne’s Solar installs photovoltaic solar systems as well as solar hot water, solar attic fans, solar tubes (a form of sky lighting), and even heat pumps. They focus on American-made products, installing SolarWorld panels and SMA, SolarEdge, and Enphase inverters (all top of the line, but standard offerings for most installers).
While customers leave near-perfect reviews for all the installers on our list, Wayne’s Solar actually enjoys the highest reviews, with 4.95 out of 5 stars! Customers consistently use the term ‘above and beyond’ to describe their customer service and repeatedly call out the extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff – including the business owner himself.
Check out this customer describing his experience installing PV solar with Wayne’s Solar:
“All of the installation crews were friendly, courteous, and very professional. They went out of their way to answer questions and explain the processes being installed. They kept the work site clean and removed excess materials right away!!”
Here’s another reviewer praising the owner of the company for his excellent customer service when they had a solar exhaust fan installed by Wayne’s Solar:
“We had a solar exhaust fan installed by Wayne Solar which worked the way it was supposed to but still did not completely solve our problem. The owner, himself came out and checked the attic insulation which he found almost non-existent in one part of the house. The owner took it upon himself to blow in additional insulation in the needed area as my husband could not climb the ladder into the attic. All this in the impossible heat we’ve had lately. Wayne Solar went way beyond what was required by his company.”
Bottom Line: If you you’re looking to install American-made products, Wayne’s Solar has the long-term experience and great customer service to cover all your needs.
IQ Solar Power
IQ Solar Power has installed 3,420 kW of solar – enough to power about 600 average-sized installations – over their lifetime. They’re based in Sanford, FL (between Orlando and Daytona Beach), but install in numerous counties throughout Florida, including Duval, St Johns, Volusia, Brevard and many others.
Like Wayne’s Solar, IQ doesn’t just focus on PV solar. They also install solar pool heaters, solar hot water, and water treatment systems.
And along with A1A Solar Contracting, SolarPowerWorld includes IQ Solar Power in their list of Top 500 Solar Contractors in the US, coming in at #239 overall.
Along with this high honor, IQ Power has great reviews from customers, with a score of 4.89 out of 5 stars on SolarReviews, based on 70 reviews. Customers praise IQ Solar for their great customer service and professional staff. Here’s one homeowner praising the company’s great customer service after the disastrous hurricane in 2017:
“I had IQ Power install home solar system, and was really pleased with the whole process. Their crew was professional and courteous, even putting up with my questions during the install. After the hurricane they came to check the system free of charge for me.”
And another reviewer describing the excellent customer service he’d received from multiple employees:
“…all of them have been knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and flexible. The folks at IQ Power have not only provided excellent equipment and recommendations, but their level of support and customer service has continued to be above and beyond even years after the initial purchase and installation.”
Bottom Line: IQ Power Solar sees great reviews and ranks high on SolarPowerWorld’s well-known Top 500 list. If you’re looking to install PV solar, solar water heating, or solar pool heating, IQ Power easily steps up to that challenge.
All American Solar
One of the younger installers on our list, All American Solar was founded in 2015. In this short period, though, they’ve been hard at work and enjoy quite a few excellent reviews from homeowners. They’re based in Orange City, but work in numerous areas.
Like others on our list, All American Solar doesn’t just offer PV solar systems. In fact, they offer more services than any other installer we’ve highlighted. Besides PV for both residential and agricultural solar, they also install:
- Battery storage systems
- Solar water heating
- Solar pool heating
- Solar attic fans
- Various water purification and treatment systems
- Home automation
- Salt cell chlorinators for pools
On SolarReviews, they enjoy 4.86 out of 5 stars based on 28 reviews. Homeowners particularly appreciate their pressure-free sales process and sales people. Here’s a retired contractor describing his installation process with All American Solar:
“I thought the sales guy was very knowledgeable, precise, courteous, and he did an excellent job. He answered all my questions no matter what they were which I found refreshing. The installers were good, they did the job the way I felt they should. I have been in construction for many year and I was satisfied with the roof installation process. I was thoroughly pleased.”
Bottom Line: Despite their tender age, All American Solar offers many different services and sees great reviews. Without much time in operations, however, we have one word of caution: be sure they have experience working with your utility and city/county first, as that will go a long way to ensuring a smooth installation process!
Founded in 1975, Solar-Fit is the oldest solar company on our list. They work throughout central Florida, including Jacksonville, St Augustine, New Smyrna Beach, DeLand, Daytona Beach, and Palm Coast, with offices in Holly Hill.
They install residential and commercial solar systems, solar hot water, and solar pool systems, including solar heating and heat pumps. They’re also a Sunpower dealer, so if you’re looking to install these premium US-made panels, Solar-Fit can take care of you there.
While Solar-Fit sees only a meager 10 reviews, what’s there shows a great company. They enjoy a high 4.60 out of 5 stars and customers love Solar-Fit’s accurate savings estimates and high quality installations. Here’s one customer after hiring Solar-Fit for numerous systems:
“Solar Fit has installed the PV system, pool heating, hot water and a solar attic fan for us. Every job was great and the savings on our electric bill they told us about were on the money.”
And another reviewer praising Solar-Fit’s overall installation process for their solar water heater:
“Solar-Fit did an excellent job from beginning to end! We are enjoying a great deal of savings from our solar water heater. We plan to call on Solar-Fit when we are ready to install solar electric as well. Their clean, professional installation and outfit overall exceeded our expectations.”
Bottom Line: Solar-Fit’s long history means they’ve got the experience to install your system properly. However, with less reviews than the others on our list, you might want to ask for a few references from previous customers before moving forward, just to be safe.
